The Thomas V. Giddens Jr. Foundation was established by the estate of Thomas V. Giddens as a private foundation in the state of Washington in 2002 and it received its federal tax exempt status in 2004. The Foundation’s initial funding took place in 2006 and its inaugural grant making activities began in 2007.
The broad purpose of the Foundation is to support activities and programs that benefit neglected and abused youth, with a particular, but not exclusive, interest in serving youth in the Seattle metropolitan area.
The Foundation is in its formative stage and believes that as it becomes more integrated in the service providing community that its grantmaking activities will likely evolve and develop specific areas of interest. However, for the current grantmaking period the Foundation is willing to consider proposals without limitation, that provide benefit to the general purpose of supporting neglected and abused youth. Grants will be directed only to organizations that have received federal tax exempt status.
